A Note From Tisha C. Jacobs

Tisha C Jacobs is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSW-A) who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, evidence-based care, and a strengths-based approach. She believes that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing when provided with a safe, supportive, and trusting therapeutic environment.

Tisha earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and later completed her Master of Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where she developed advanced clinical skills through diverse practicum experiences. Her graduate internships included School Social Work, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she gained experience working with children, adolescents, college students, Veterans, caregivers, and individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns.

Throughout her career, Tisha has served in a variety of clinical settings, providing services across the lifespan. Her professional experience includes working as an Intensive In-Home (IIH) Therapist, providing community-based behavioral health services to children and families with complex needs; serving as a Medical/Clinical Social Worker within the Ryan White Program, where she provided case management, psychosocial support, crisis intervention, and care coordination for individuals living with HIV/AIDS; and providing outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and families in private practice.

Tisha works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral concerns, trauma, adjustment difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, family conflict, self-esteem issues, grief, and life transitions. She utilizes an individualized, client-centered approach, integrating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Strengths-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness techniques, psychoeducation, and developmentally appropriate play-based interventions.

With a background in education, Tisha understands the importance of collaborating with families, schools, and community supports to help children achieve success both academically and emotionally. She values building strong therapeutic relationships with caregivers and empowering families with practical strategies that promote lasting positive change.

Tisha is currently pursuing specialized training toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) through The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, further expanding her ability to support children through developmentally appropriate, play-based therapeutic interventions.

Known for her warm, authentic, and compassionate approach, Tisha strives to create a welcoming space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Her goal is to help individuals and families build resilience, strengthen relationships, develop healthy coping skills, and move toward meaningful, lasting growth.
